Self-care is a lifelong habit and culture. It is the practice of individuals looking after their own health based on the knowledge and information available to them. It is a decision-making process that empowers individuals to look after their own health efficiently and conveniently, in collaboration with health and social care professionals as needed.

Many of us make lifestyle choices that are not healthy for us, but bring us temporary pleasure. Chocolate, ice cream come to my immediate mind, but when these choices that we make on a daily basis get in the way of a truly happy and productive live, then we need to pause and look at what we are doing and support ourselves in making a change.  Sometimes we need to contact a professional to get on the right track, to help get motivated ad feel encouraged within.  Asking for help can be the first step in making a change that can totally alter the direction of our lives.

So while we have just celebrated global self-care day, take a moment to decide what you could do for yourself that would make your own life (and maybe that of others too!) just a little bet better.
