One of our missions when we have become more comfortable in our recovery is to spread the word to people still suffering. There are many ways we can do this. The best way is by “attraction rather than promotion”. This means that we are walking, living, and breathing examples of what recovery looks like. We are the shinning examples of a positive attitude, and a change in perception. Although we are still able to share the growing pains that are also part of the recovery process. This is all on top of the fact that, yes we do not engage in our addictions anymore. By literally “some act of God” we are more functional members of our society. There are many ways we find to give back what has been so freely given to us.

In the event you are considering a life of recovery, or are in recovery here are some ways we can keep trudging the path for the better of all.

  • Many go to regular meetings in their community. We develop deeper, more meaningful relationships by going to these meetings. We also get to be the hand to help support the newcomers that will show up. If we are not there, who will be to spread the message to them?

  • Conventions and conferences usually occur annually. These gatherings of people in recovery can be as few as 50 people to as many as 50,000 people.  The events can have themes like for Young People, for LGBT, international, or regional, campouts, book studies, step specific, and so on. At theses events you can also learn about the interworking of the self-supporting organization you are part of and how it has stayed alive for 80 years. Also you meet people from all walks of life, and if you can listen well you may leave one of these events with a few nuggets of knowledge. You can never have enough tools in your tool belt.

As always I have inserted a couple of links for all to follow. And maybe through the amazing path you have chosen we quite possible could cross paths. Enjoy the list and hope to see you fellowshipping about.
